I did a review of the Somewhere In Time album back in the summer and I still think it’s my favorite Reckless Kelly album to date. Definitely one worth picking up. Check out ANOTHER killer vid from the music fog guys of Reckless Kelly doing I’ve Done Everything I Could Do Wrong”

Album Review: Reckless Kelly – Somewhere In Time
Continuing with Texas week, I thought I would do a much overdue review for Reckless Kelly’s latest Somewhere In Time. The album is a tibute to, and a collection of songs written by obscure Idaho country music legend Pinto Bennett. I will admit this was my first exposure to the excellent songs of Mr. Bennett, and I am now a big fan. Kudos to Reckless Kelly for making this album and getting his music out there and heard.
Now onto the music….like I said, the songs are GREAT. Matter of fact I would call this RK’s most consistent album so far. Just catchy song after catchy song. All the songs have that “edge” RK are known for but this is also RK’s most “country” sounding album to date. The album kicks off with the scorcher “Little Blossom” and then cuts to a spanish ballad featuring Joe Ely called “The Ballad of Elano De Leone”. Following that, the album keeps it’s momentum going with a series of mid-tempo country songs before igniting the rocket again with “Pure Quill”. On a somber note is how the album ends. Pinto himself adds his voice to the mix on what sounds to me like a very personal song about reminiscing the death of a lost love called “Thelma” before kicking off into the title track which pair together perfectly. Definitely the highlight of the album.
Recommended for anyone who likes catchy as hell country music with an “edge”
