Looking Backwards: 2010

So I know I’ve been a little lax on the updates lately, and totally forgot to do the reader’s poll for you guys’ favorite albums of last year. If you want leave a comment on this post of some things you liked from 2010 please do. That’s what I’m doing here. I know it’s a little late, but hell it’s my site I can do what I want right!

So I’m just going to talk about some of my favorite things from 2010, now y’all know I don’t normally post an ordered list just like to point out some of the albums I enjoyed from last year. One thing I will say though is my absolute 2 favorite albums from last year were the following:

The Fox Hunt – Long Way To Go
Glossary – Feral Fire

I can’t believe I never wrote a review of that Fox Hunt album…really fucking good album…since I didn’t write a review I will point you to a friend’s review that says just about everything I would want to say. Only thing I will add is that The Fox Hunt are one hell of a set of songwriter’s and musicians. In my opinion though, the songwriting, is what set’s them apart from all the other “stringband” acts and makes them something special and a band you will not want to miss. My review of the Glossary album can be found here. If you only buy two albums this year because of me, I┬ásincerely┬áhope it was those two.

here are some of my other favorite albums of 2010 in no particular order:

The Sadies – Darker Circles
Black Keys – Brothers
Kasey Anderson – Nowhere Nights
Justin Townes Earle – Harlem River Blues
Otis Gibbs – Joe Hill’s Ashes
Ray Wylie Hubbard – A: Enlightenment, etc..
Guthrie Kennard – Matchbox
Peter Case – Wig!
Tim Barry – 28th and Stonewall
Trampled By Turtles – Palamino
I Can Lick Any SOB – Sounds Of Dying
Alejandro Escovedo – Street Songs Of Love
Over Mountain Men – Glorious Day
Reckless Kelly – Somewhere In Time
Johnny Cash – Ain’t No Grave
Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings – I Learned The Hard Way

Think I’m going to do a series of posts with a vid from each of those all day tomorrow…..stay tuned
