Excursions: War Spur Trail, Giles County VA

So here is something new I thought I would try….to give the site a little bit of a personal touch. Lately I’ve been doing a bit of hiking so I thought I would start talking about that a bit. The area in which I live has many trails, and the daddy of them all, the Appalachian Trail goes right through my town. This evening I hiked up to a place called War Spur, which is connected to the Appalachian trail by a short connector but also has it’s own loop that is only about a 2 mile hike. Something really easy to do in the evening to give myself and the dog a little R & R. The trail itself is a few miles behind Mountain Lake Hotel which many readers on here have probably seen before, because that is where the movie Dirty Dancing was filmed. Yes…..”nobody put’s baby in a corner”

Musical Dedication to War Spur: Tom Russell – Gallo Del Cielo. Best song about a cock fight ever!

    Hi,

Looks very nice and interesting. However, although Gallo del Cielo is written by Tom, I think Joe Ely’s version is the best.

Looks wonderful! Ever since I’ve read A Walk In The Woods by Bill Bryson I’m dreaming about one day hiking (a part) of it. I definitely could get used to this new feature!
    Cheers,

This wasn’t the big suprise was it! Also, speaking of big suprises, I was looking at the DIME A DOZEN Yahoo group, and saw that many Ray Wylie Hubbard shows, other than the ones you put up here, were posted there in the past. Any chance you still got any of those?!

Oh yeah, September 1st was Charlie Robison’s birthday. He is Bruce’s brother and the guy that divorced Emily Erwin of the Dixie Chicks in 2008. Anyway, his new album, Beautiful Day, is WAY better than his previous albums. You should grab a copy and reveiw it. I’m almost positive it will be at your local record store.

I love Beautiful Day. I can’t remember if I reviewed it in the past, but I know I put one of the songs on a sampler.

And no, this wasn’t the big surprise. I’m still working on that but having problems with audio/video synch. Perhaps it’s built up to much now, but I think it’s cool.

Bostig: I actually wanted to use the Ely version or a Tom Russell live version but was pressed for time and could not find anything but the TR version. Still good right!

MLP: I have that book but have yet to read it. My understanding is he skipped over this part of the trail cause it was too difficult :(

Heya this is somewhat of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML.
I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience.
Any help would be enormously appreciated!
